Service Area
The service area extends from five to twenty miles due north of downtown Manhattan. It is bounded by Hudson County on the south, by New York City across the Hudson River on the east, by Rockland County, New York on the north, and by the remainder of Bergen County on the west.
The areas served by the Authority are essentially residential in character; however, there are a few large areas and some isolated sections of several municipalities where the Authority provides services to industrial and commercial facilities. Most of these facilities discharge into local collecting systems and are connected to the Authority facilities through such local facilities, but there are also a number of direct connections to the Authority systems and some direct contracts with industrial and commercial establishments. It is presently estimated that approximately 8% to 10% of the plant flow is received from industrial and commercial areas throughout the Authority District.
