Wastewater Education

Facility Tours:

Free tours of the BCUA's Water Pollution Control Plant are available by appointment only for schools and civic groups on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Children must be ten years of age or older and school tours must provide one adult for every ten children.

Tours may be postponed at the discretion of the BCUA because of inclement weather or other safety concerns. Hard hats, distributed by the BCUA personnel, must be worn by all people touring the plant and will be collected at the conclusion of the tour.

Please call Michael Cammett at (201) 807-5836 to schedule a tour.

School Programs:

The BCUA provides wastewater education programs to Bergen County schools in BCUA Member Municipalities. This program is limited to students in the BCUA Service area. Click here for eligible municipalities.

(Kindergarten to Grade 2) – Through the use of stickers and handouts, children learn about the water cycle, where the water goes, and how water is cleaned and treated. They will experience and come to understand the importance of water and our need to take care of it. Each presentation helps explain the different processes in a way that’s easy to follow. This program is approximately 20 to 30 minutes long. For information about this program, please contact Denise Ross at 201-807-5866 or dross@bcua.org.
